UMNO men operate as NGO leaders

It was reported in mainstream media that a group of NGOs led by Pewaris, an umbrella body of Malay and Muslim non-governmental organizations lodged five police reports on Sunday over several issues which they claimed endangered Muslim and Malay unity.

Their spokeman Datuk Dr Maa’mor Osman claimed Malay NGOs felt that it was crucial for them to voice their concerns against the action of other parties which allegedly tried to belittle the Malays, Islam as the official religion of the Federation, and bumiputra rights.

Of late, certain UMNO leaders have been hiding their UMNO faces and operate as "NGO leaders". For example, Datuk Dr Maa'mor Osman is an UMNO leader in Ampang division. At the same time, he is also the Secretary-General of Muslim Consumers Association Malaysia.

And on Sunday when they lodged police reports on five items including one against Hindraf, Pewaris led a 500-strong march from Wisma Sejarah to Jalan Tun Abdul Razak Police Station. Why no action taken against them for the parade?
