Embattled Rafidah Aziz has retained her post as the international trade and industry minister in a minor cabinet reshuffle announced this afternoon by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Abdullah made few changes in the first cabinet reshuffle in two years. He has not reshuffled his cabinet since sweeping the Barisan Nasional coalition into power in March 2004.
Those who have lost their job as ministers are Higher Education Minister Dr Shafie Mohd Salleh, Tourism Minister Dr Leo Michael-Toyad.
Mustapa Mohamed, who was minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, is now higher education minister.
Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor returned as a full minister when he was tapped as the new tourism minister.
Also out is Natural Resources and Environment Adenan Satem, who is replaced by Azmi Khalid, who was home affairs minister.
Meanwhile, Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, who was tourism minister, had announced his resignation his post as information minister earlier today.
He was replaced his deputy, Zainuddin Maidin, a key supporter of ex-prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
