The Selangor Govt is trying desperately to stave off the SABOTAGE being orchestrated by the Federal Govt who is offering to buy up the four companies - Syabas, ABBAS, Splash and Puncak Niaga - plus their huge loans worth RM6.4 billion.
The Selangor Govt will reduce water tariffs immediately if they are successful in their bid to take over the water companies, as well as improve the quality of water to homes. In addition, it will seek to negotiate with and help poor families get access to water services, which is a universal human right. It will not simply cut off water access to poor households, and then charge them RM50 for reconnection (before privatisation, reconnection fees were RM10).
In the unfair agreements between the Fed Govt and the 4 water companies, they will be allowed to raise tariffs by 37% (2009), 25% (2012) and 20% (2015). All these increases when the water piped to us is so dirty we are forced to buy filters.
This is a very important issue for all residents of Selangor and KL... PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES.

The state government should oppose the federal govt,every each way it can to protect the rakyat's interest.It is sickening if we just resign to pressure from bn led federal govt and telling us voters who voted PR,that the state CANNOT do anything until PR secure the federal too.The state may not have the strength of the federal govt,but then there is always a 'David'to the bloody goliath.
