My colleague Tony Pua has blogged about the latest toll hike for five major and the DAP Ops RESTORE Team's proposal to the Works and Finance Ministers to make the entire North-South Highway and its related concessions such as the ELITE, Butterworth-Kulim (BKE) and the Second Link Highways under PLUS Expressways Bhd completely toll free by 2016.
Certainly the latest toll hike announcement by Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin is most untimely in view of the recent economic downturn the nation is facing.
Nevertheless, the government should seriously consider the proposal to turn these highways as toll-free highways.
What more I want to suggest? Well, take away Batu Tiga toll. Federal Highway II Batu Tiga Toll plaza has always been a major jamming block along Federal Highway.
Looking at the number of vehicles pilling up the toll plaza to pay their tolls, PLUS has been making tonnes of millions of ringgit from motorist.
It would not be too much for me to suggest here that the toll plaza be demolished and convert the whole Federal Highway a toll-free route (at least up to Sungai Rasau).
The government has been talking about "stimulus package". I think this will be the best stimulating effect that the government can initiate.
Once the toll plaza is taken away, there will be an immediate stimulating effect on trades across the whole Klang valley stretch right from Kuala Lumpur, Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Batu Tiga, Shah Alam and Klang.

Y? dap suggest to use tax payer money to buy back highway?
If after Pakatan buy back all the higway ... and BN gain control in future election and re-build all the highway... than what should v do??? buy for 2nd time??? b'cos is tax payer money so Pakatan MP or ADUN will not feel the pain???
remember MAS use RM15 to buy 500ml bottle mineral water from umno company..
did dap carry-out a proper study of the construction cost of highway??
did dap know the "Mark-up" factor in these tolls agreements???
do you know all these tolls agreement have been "gross up" in value start from the begining stage. The “特定的政治人物”，“头家”，大道公司 already made they (1st round) money when the tolls agreement is awarded? They have made the (2nd round) money when they strated to collect tolls and compensation from gov.
Now, dap is proposing to one-off buy back the highway at an inflated price??? (3rd round)
Would it be a conspiracy where these tolls operator have bought "dap".
Why "Rape" the Rakyat for 3rd time?
All these year when DAP is still a "Pure" or "Virgin" Opposition Party... they always question the sums of money incurred in building the highway..
In fact if I not mistaken, YB Lim KS have bring up this issue in the Parliament for many time... "why the cost per KM of highway is alway highest as compare with other country when our labour, construction materials are cheaper than many country"....
BN have failed to answer these question...
And
If I remember correctly, it is the norm of DAP to call for the setting up of ... "Royal Commission" to investigate "this" and "that"
But
When DAP or Pakatan is almost step into the "Corridor of Power".....
they started to passing problem arising from past wrong doing of BN
to rakyat.
Why?
Oh perhaps, they want to have a easy job?
"Nationisation" is not a good word to be use and not investment friendly!
Do Pakatan know that the Rakyat want: -
"New Acts of Parliament" to stop all the "Un-fair Contracts" irregardless whether BN or Pakatan remain in the "Corridor of Power"!!
But again
Who are those "Virgin" MPs of Pakatan willing to proposed a "Private Bill". Without a 51% majority in the House of Parliament, their Private Bill will be turn down by BN....How many of those "Virgin" MPs of Pakatan willing to risk their career....
I think (Pakatan MPs)they have forgotten their promises...
If I elected as MP... I'll send "Your Voice" into Parliament....I'll not "pointing at Longkang like BN MP....

Perhaps CHANGE has come into Pakatan.
