Teresa is finally released but Raja Petra Kamaruddin and other ISA detainees including YB M. Manoharan and his four other counterparts are still detained under the draconian act.
While we can happily welcome the release of Teresa Kok, the continued detention of Raja Petra Kamaruddin, Hindraf 5 leaders and others under ISA only strengthen our will and strength to abolish ISA.
In fact, there is nothing much for us to celebrate except for the release of Teresa Kok. We should not even talk about celebration as if the struggle to abolish ISA has already succeeded. The release of Teresa Kok as well as the release of Tan Hoon Cheng are just a small step towards the abolishment of ISA.
Malaysians of all races and religions must now come together to get rid of ISA. We certainly do not want to see our next generations to continue to live under threat with the existence of ISA.
Malaysians shall not forget that there are currently bloggers charged under Sedition Act, which is also another draconian act. Newspapers (Sin Chew Daily, The Sun and Suara KeADILan) are served with show-cause letters under the provision of Printing and Press Act, which is another act that stiffen freedom of speech. The Home Ministry has yet to take any actions on the three newspapers.
The sword of devil is still at our neck. During the press conference held in the DAP HQ yesterday afternoon, the DAP reiterated our stance to repeal ISA and other draconian acts that stiffen freedom of speeches and basic human rights. The arbitrary arrests of Raja Petra Kamaruddin, Tan Hoon Cheng and Teresa Kok on 12th September had brought all Malaysians only to be more determined to change the BN government in order to bring new breath to Malaysia.
Mansuhkan ISA or Mansuhkan BN!
