Mask-changing act attracts the crowd

ABOUT 200 people turned up at the Ruan Liang Temple lantern festival celebration in Section 17 to watch a mask-changing act from China.

The crowd watched in awe as the mask changer deftly switched masks during his performance.

Residents from the surrounding new village turned up in droves despite the pouring rain to enjoy the food and performances.

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said the mid-autumn festival was a big event for the Chinese community and that people of all races joined in the celebrations.

Representatives from the Selangor PAS also attended the event.

Zahrizan Jamaludin impressed the mostly Chinese crowd when he greeted them on stage in Mandarin.

Also present was state Local Government, Research and Studies Committee chairman Ronnie Liu, Damansara Utama assemblyman Dr Cheah Wing Yin and Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San.

Lau presented cheques for donations of RM2,500 each that he had pledged to the temple, the SJK (C) Damansara Save Our School (S.O.S) committee and the Poh Toh Association.
