U-turn over move to bar Muslim workers from liquor outlets
I cannot understand why The Star again reported that there is a U-turn pertaining to the instruction of the Selangor State Government to Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to remove the ban on commercial outlets which sell alcoholic drinks from employing Muslim staffs.
The Star picks MB's statement issued on 14th January 2011 on the proposed idea of setting up a fund to assist Muslim employees who want to leave these outlets to support their livelihood.
I cannot understand why is this called a "U-turn". The decision of the state government stays, that MPSJ cannot ban commercial outlets which sell alcoholic drinks in Subang Jaya from employing Muslim staffs. When the state government announces that they will look into the proposal to set-up a special fund to assist these Muslim workers, why is it called a "U-turn" in policy?
You name it a "U-turn" when the state government withdraws such directive to MPSJ to remove the ban. Has the directive been withdrawn?
Your answer to my question is the reason why the paper's circulation is on the dropping trend.
