Facemasks and thermometers given to schools in DUN Kampung Tunku

I have distributed more than 5000 facemasks to schools in Kampung Tunku state constituency in order to assist the schools in fighting Influenza A since one month ago. Besides that, 16 infrared forehead thermometers are also given to all schools in the area, with four given to each school.

There are altogether four government schools and one Sekolah Agama Rakyat (private religious school) in my area, namely SK Kampung Tunku, SJKC Sungai Way, SMK Sri Permata, SMK(P) Sri Aman and SAR Al-Hidayah.

It was shockingly disappointing for me to know that the federal government has yet to deliver enough medical equipment like facemasks and thermometers to further re-inforce the school in fighting the deadly disease since the outbreak of Influenza A in Malaysia.

What are urgently needed by the schools are simple medical equipment like sanitizers, facemasks and thermometers in order for the school to take pro-active precautions. SJKC Sg Way had bought four thermometers on its own, paid for by the school’s board of governors.

Due to the urgency of the matter, I had supplied four thermometers to each school out of my constituency development fund with each thermometer costs RM290. With the thermometers, form teachers in each school in DUN Kampung Tunku could check their students’ temperature each day.

I urge the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health to immediately take actions and supply all schools in Selangor with adequate medical equipments.
