(Gana was standing next to me when we submitted memorandum to MBPJ on the obstruction of a bazaar in front of a Hindu Temple in Sungai Way New Village, SS9A, Petaling Jaya)
My colleague, Tony Pua, has written about one of the Hindraf ISA detainees, V. Ganabatirau.
While Tony has close working relation with Gana, I met Gana occasionally in various DAP functions and activities.
I also remember that he was one of the few lawyers detained in front of Shah Alam Police Disctrict Headquarters together with others gathered in front of the police station when MBSA and other state government agencies demolished a Hindu Temple in Padang Jawa weeks ago.
He is a new DAP member, but already started serving the people in Teluk Intan and had assisted the party to form a new branch in Shah Alam, named Sri Muda Branch, and his branch could be the first DAP branch in Shah Alam, a parliamentary constituency which is not a DAP stronghold due to its demographic structure.
I had several chances to work with him regarding to the membership and setting-up of his branch.
There was also one occasion when Tony and I went to lodge a complaint with him to MBPJ regarding to a bazaar set-up by MBPJ during the month of Ramadhan right in front of the Hindu Temple in Sungai Way New Village, SS9A, Petaling Jaya, which obstructed the traffic flow.
Gana was not radical in his reaction and what was demanded is for the council to consult the management of the temple before making the decision to set-up the bazaar.
I truly wish and hope that he can be released immediately.
My word to Pak Lah: don’t complain that it is smelly, but ask why it is smelly.
