Lake in dire need of care

I did a press conference about Taman Aman in December 2009. Here is the report: Lake in dire need of care.

ADUN LAU,

Taman Aman lake is not the only lake in PJ that is highly contaminated. The Kelana Jaya lake beside the MBPJ's stadium is another one which is sorely lacking in maintenance.

The Kelana Jaya lake showed poor maintenance despite the MBPJ having its parks office situated nearby. The aerators are not in working order.

Whilst there exist a " Friends of Kelana Jaya Lake " office in the park, it is obvious that no one is interested to see a healthy lake in their neighbourhood.

Perhaps we can invite Elizabeth Wong to come and have a look. A healthy lake environment is good for the community.

However, I am of the firm belief that the root cause of this problem is the quality of the influent being discharge into the lake from the nearby housing estate and shops.

Hence, there should be a pre-treatment stage of all household and restaurant waste before being allowed into the lake.
