Selangor DAP launches Anti-Toll Hike Campaign

Beginning Jan 1, the toll rates for five major highways in the Klang Valley increased between 20 to 60 percent.

Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP) saw the highest rise with its toll rising from RM1 to RM1.60.

The Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway's Gombak toll is now at RM5, an increase of RM1, and Bentong toll was increased by 50 sen to RM3.


The other affected highways are
Shah Alam Highway, Cheras-Kajang Highway and the Guthrie Corridor Expressway.

Oppose Toll Hikes- The Government is Guaranteeing Huge Profits for Toll Companies

  1. The campaign objectives:
    1. Provide a real picture and analysis on toll hike.
    2. To express the dissatisfaction of ordinary Malaysians on toll hike.
    3. To protest the government abuses of Official Secrets Act laws.

  1. The leaflet consists of four languages, Malay, Chinese, Tamil and English. The leaflet highlights two major issues:
    1. The compensation to highway companies is 18% higher than the actual construction cost, which is RM 739 million.
    2. Classified highway contracts under OSA is unnecessary and unjustified.

  1. We will distribute the leaflet around Selangor, especially in affected areas.

  1. The 21 demonstrators arrested at anti-toll hike protest at the Cheras Batu 11 toll plaza will be reported to the Magistrate Court in Putrajaya on 8.30am tomorrow.

  1. The Selangor DAP leaders will accompany Sdr. Ronnie Liu to report to Bukit Aman Police Headquarters, who summoned by the police under OSA investigation over the disclosure of the toll concession agreement (Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd- Litrak).
