Life after 8/3/08

Life has been quite challenging after 8th March. You see, I am not using the word ‘hard’ or ‘difficult’, I describe it as challenging.
Since we do not expect to run the state government, there are various issues that we have to tackle as a state government, i.e. the mechanism of choosing councilors, village chiefs and village youth development committee chiefs. All three are positions which the state government has to fill in after BN-appointed councilors, village chiefs and village youth development committee chiefs are either removed or resigned.
Also not to forget is community issues, there are just endless about it. Major community issues in Kampung Tunku are mainly on over-development, preservation of green-lungs, open spaces and a cozy livelihood for the community and security problem.
For example, there is a complaint from SS3 when Syabas proposed to clear a hillslope surrounding one of its reservoirs in that area. The residents are upset by this because all this while they are actually ‘adopting’ the piece of green lung, which just lie along their backyards.
There were also complaints on Paramount View Condominium construction site. Questions were raised on why and how local authority can approve a medium-density strata residential area in the middle of a low density housing area. And the site is a small piece of land situated next to LRT rail link and TNB’s high tension cable.
Will the condo-occupants not afraid of the noise pollution and the radiation of the electromagnetic wavelength? Even before the project finished, surrounding residents are already not satisfied with the pro-long working hours and the noise pollution caused by the developer.
Well these are just tips of the iceberg. I intend to set-up another community blog to give you, readers a better platform to contribute ideas on how to improve our neighbourhood. Details to be announced later once it is done.
