We will hand in a protest note to the Mayor of Petaling Jaya tomorrow and officially lodge a complaint with Petaling Jaya City Hall (MBPJ) on Friday in relation to the proposal from a developer, Taipan Focus Sdn. Bhd. to construct a 16-storey flat, central market, hawkers centre and carpark on a piece of open space – a small football field which is also the only open space in Sungai Way New Village as well as the only field for school children of SJKC Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya.
Last Thursday, Kampung Tunku ADUN, YB Dato’ Dr Wong Sai Hou, who is also a councillor for Petaling Jaya was reported saying to China Press that the proposal forwarded by the developer was to alleviate traffic congestion problem in the area and that letters have been sent to residents in the vicinity with no objection received.
I would like to call on Dato’ Wong Sai Hou to provide proofs that the residents are served with adequate notices. Nevertheless, Wong Sai Hou did not fully reply my five reasons to abject the proposal to re-develop the field, that it will rob away another precious open space from the people, that it will worsen the traffic congestion in the area instead of alleviating it, that the construction of another central market is unnecessary as there is another adjacent market, that the process lacked transparency and consultation with the people.
